Hotel in Chiang Mai

Help. We heard the Tamarind Village is being renovated and noisy in the AM. Anyone know for sure fi it is really noisy If so, we need another hotel in the same price range (40-80),which does not cater to the tour groups.

Do a search here, there has been lots of talk about places to stay in CM. It sounds to me like Baan Orapin might be what you are interested in. There are lots of reviews of Baan Orapin here.

Nancy - I posted a few days ago about the noise at Tamarind as I had heard from a girl on a massage course that it was noisy in the morning. She was recovering from being unwell so it was really important she get more sleep than was allowed by the buildings work - she said it was well underway by 9am. Other than that she did like the place. If you are there on a Sunday, the Sunday walking market is right outside.

I have also read a comment before that the Tamarind is popular with tour bookings and that is why it gets booked out far in advance. This was last year sometime I read this on tripadvisor - no idea if there is any truth in this.

We loved Baan Orapin btw - v tranquil setting near some great restaurants and a short walk to town.

You might stay at Imperial Mae Ping, about 41 USD, I have found in one website. Orchid Hotel is also good choice at 40 USD.

We have just stayed at the Chiang Mai Plaza and enjoyed it. The decor is beautifully done old Chiang Mai style and is very handy to Night Markets. Good luck!
