Are there body scanners at Georgia airports?

I am thinking of visiting Georgia from the EU. EU body scanners are optional so it's no problem for me. Metal detectors I also do not mind.

Are there body scanners in Georgia and if so, can you legally opt for a pat-down?

If your wondering the reason, obviously I have been scanned before and it just doesn't feel right to me

Best regards!

"it just doesn't feel right to me" Seriously? What exactly did you "feel"?

I was trying not to be dramatic, but I think a lot of people are getting sick from the body scanners, best to avoid where possible.

Can you answer the question of this thread?

I don't trust medical devices. I think they are dangerous. Medical negligence is the 3rd biggest killer in US. Look it up.

So I like to minimize body scanners during my travels.

Honestly, I can't find much info on line though.

You asked the same thing over on the Air Travel Forum. Even IF someone visited Georgia and didn't see scanners doesn't mean they haven't been installed since. FYI the amount of radiation received in a body scan is approx the same one receives in about 3 minutes on the plane. So IF you must avoid a scanner you really should avoid flying at all.

In the States one can refuse being scanned and submit to a body frisk. HOWEVER -- when you are in another country there is likely no such accommodation. One must do what the security staff instruct or there may be more serious repercussions than a bit of unwanted scanning . . . just sayin'

"I don't trust medical devices. I think they are dangerous. Why? Do you think the manufacturers are out to harm the population?

What about cell phones? Each time you uses one you are exposing yourself to way more
radiation than a body scanner that uses very low dose x rays.

Every wondered why whenever you get an X-ray at the dentist or hospital , they go outside the room? High dose x -rays. Are you going to refuse one of those if you have toothache or broken leg?

Flying on a commercial aircraft for a few will expose you to way more radiation than a body scan.

If I were to worry about anything re radiation, it wouldn't be body scanners causing me to lose sleep, but the likelihood of Putin using nukes in that part of the world.

This is the most important point in this thread. In second/third world countries, don't ever expect the same sort accomodations that you'd get in the US because of "hurr durr, my rights" -- and expect trouble if you even assert your "rights."

Dental x-ray = customers choice. cell tower = dangerous. Medical negligence = 3rd highest cause of death in US, so don't trust medical devices.
Many airports in the world don't have body scanners, like Vienna airports, for example, and all EU you can legally choose not to get scanned.
I travel frequently and have not been body scanned in a few years now, after I started avoiding it.
"Do you think the manufacturers are out to harm the population" - definitely

This thread was not about debating health. I just wanted to know if Georgia forces x-rays on people.

Yes, this is exactly why I am asking. People just like calling me an idiot rather than addressing the actual question.

It looks like they do (X-rays) and you can't ask for an exception:
https://www.tbilisiairport.com/en-EN...ecurity-checks

But you could write to them and ask what their policies are.

Assuming the OP is not a troll:

You are objecting to the full body scanner (I call it the naked picture machine), the one where you have to raise your arms, or to the regular scanner (metal detector) that all airports use, or both?

Are you not going to go to Georgia if you have to go through a scanner and there is no pat down option? You can contact the embassy about requesting a pat down or ask at flyertalk. But it really comes down to whether the security person grants that request or not.

As far as the question in the title of this thread, I believe 100% that the answer is "yes, they have scanners" (metal detectors, at least)
(I wonder if it is an ICAO requirement for Tblisi/international flights, at least.)

I said in my first post "Metal detectors I also do not mind", I don't mind traditional metal detector and luggage x-ray. Obviously, I am expecting them to have metal detectors.

Yes, I am referring to the big body scanners where you raise your arms, as you said. These are the ones I want to opt-out of.

You have provided some good info for me to look up.

I would wager that if there were any body scanners in Georgia that they might be only in Tblisi. Anyway, the scanners might freak out the locals. The security officials have had to deal with tough old Georgian women who take no crap and don't want the scanner. A polite and respectful foreigner who is spending money in Georgia would probably get some consideration,

progol gave you a good link.
