Are knitting needles allowed on ANA?

Does anyone know if knitting needles are allowed on carry-on luggage on ANA?
Fingers crossed.......

Are you flying out of the US -- then ANA has nothing to do w/ it. It is TSA who screens your luggage. And yes, knitting needles are OK.

I doubt the TSA controls what happens in Japanese airports so whilst you may be able to take them, will you be able to get them back? I would check with the airline. Even then, in my experience, airport security staff tend to have their own interpretation of the rules.

No, of course not. The Japanese authorities would. As I mentioned . . . IF she is flying ANA out of the US, it would be TSA in charge. The OP does not say where they are flying from.

Thanks for your replies. I called ANA and they said it's up to the discretion of TSA, that they may consider anything with a point a weapon. The TSA website says they are allowed. I'm only concerned about the U.S. to Japan leg of the trip. I'm not going to even try on the return trip as I have had my needles confiscated before. So I'll give it a shot and hope for the best. Anything to make the time pass...

Maybe it's time for some crocheting instead?

Knitting needles are allowed - TSA says so. Why are you still worrying?

Now, IF there is a terrorist threat between now and your flight that involves knitting needles . . . then sure, the rules could change. But that isn't very likely.
