Another Singapore Hotel Q!

Folks,

I am looking at a mid-range hotel in Singapore; nothing luxurious, just nice, clean, and modern.

I am currently looking at Pan Pacific vs. Traders. Pan Pacific seems more centrally located.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Try Albert Court Hotel. Clean, charming, convenient, boutique hotel. Try asia-hotels.com or planetholiday.com for good internet deals. Good Luck!

The Crown Prince on Orchard Road is excellent, brilliant location, close to MRTs etc, good size rooms, good breakfast, we paid SGD 128 for 2 adults and 2 kids just before Christmas , that's very rought USD 82

I would compare rates and check what's included, some don't include tax/service/breakfast, shops around.

That SGD 128 included tax/service and Bfst ( but did not officially include bfst for the kids but I actually don't think we paid, lucky )

Travellingbug and JamesA,

Thanks for responding so quickly. James, asia-hotels.com says they have in-room suites, but the hotel website says only the suits have them. What's the scoop?

Thanks.

Traders and Pan Pacific each are near different things.
Depends on the purpose of your trip and what you want to be near.
Traders is run by the ShangriLa people. Convenient for Orchard Rd shopping and the closest hotel to the Botanical Gardens.
Pan Pacific is in the Marina so some rooms will have views of the harbour. Convenient to Raffles and if you plan to catch a performance at the Esplanade. It's also closer to the financial district, if you are coming on business.

Razzle Dazzle, depending on what you want in Singapore the Pan Pacific is not to convenient for shopping at places like Orchard Rd. or China town.
It is accross from the Suntec Ctr.
Nice hotel though, stayed there 3 weeks ago. City hall subway station is a good 10-15 minute walk from there, all underground though. For a little more you can stay at the Marriott on Orchard RD and for a lot less at hotels in China town or near Clarke Quay.
Casey.

Hi James A,
Which website did you use to reserve Crown Prince? I can't find as equally favorable rates as yours. any tip would be appreciated.

Hi!

Pan Pacific is a little out of the way and its about 10-15 mins walk away from the mrt station. I would suggest using asiatravel.com or hotelclub.net as they have quite good rates & have used them to book Singapore hotels for my overseas friends.

It's called the 'Crown Hotel' these days so maybe listed under that name.

Thanks for your replies.

I am there on vacation, not business. Would like to see the Jurong bird park, the zoo and the Night Safari, hang around the quays, Botanic Gardens, Chinatown, Little India, Arab Street; in short, everything there is to see I'd like to see.

I think I will go for the Traders.
