AirAsia - Changing Plans in Kuala Lumpur
My sister and I are going to be in Chiang Mai in June and we want to get to Bali. I have figured out that we can fly AirAsia through Kuala Lumpur. The flight to KL gets in at 14:50. the flight to Bali leaves 16:45. and then there's one later at 20:15.
So I think there should be enough time to make a connection in Kuala Lumpur. But here's my questions.
1. We cannot book the flights as one ticket on the airasia website. They would be two different trips. Is there any way to book it all together?
2. Is that enough time?
3. How hard will it be to change planes in Kuala Lumpur?
4. Will we have to go through immigration and customs even though we are just transiting through the country?
5. Should we wait and buy tickets in Bangkok instead of online from the US?
Anything else I should know about this idea? and the feasibility of carrying it out?
Thanks

We have been asked about this recently - please see http://www.fodors.com/forums/threadselect.jsp?fid=27
Just quickly to go through your questions:-
1. not that I know of
2. if all was exactly to time it should be fine, but you'd need to get a move on - its if something goes wrong you will lose your ticket for KL to Bali.
3.It wasn't hard but this links to Qu 4 . you do need to go through immigration and custome twice here and pick up your baggage from 1st flight and check it in again for 2nd flight too.
5. I can't think of any reason to wait - can't see any advantages in that.
If you go with it and 2 hr time in middle it should, fingers crossed, be ok. BUT you need to be prepared to buy a ticket for the 20.15 if somethign does go wrong ie. flight CM to KL delayed.
We took 5 Air Asia flights in Jan/Feb - all went to time and we also took 2 flights one after another, all fine. But no-one can say if a flight will be delayed and then that may give you a problem.

Funny that we posted about the same itinerary.
I cannot find a 20:15 flight from KUL to DPS on the AirAsia flight. Are you looking through the airasia website? I am only getting options for 10:55, 11:20 and 16:45.
On the schedule PDF it shows there to be a 20:15 flight - QZ 9009 - but it's not coming up for me as an option to purchase on multiple days this summer that I put in as options.
Any advice?

Here's the earlier thread: http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...3&start=50
Hope this link works! (Try the 2nd half of the link)
So you'll only have about 2 hours. To me, it's too risky. AirAsia is not known for their on-time-ness. Even it they are on time, you'll still have to rush.
