Air Asia booking question

Hello,
I am trying to fly from Phuket to HCMC on Saturday March 9, 2013.
I would like to take Air Asia flt 3004 departing Phuket at 12:50 arriving Bangkok at 14:10.
I would then like to take Air Asia flt 2794 departing Bangkok at 15:55 arrving HCMC at 17:30.
The Air Asia site is only allowing me to book these as separate flights and not as a connection. Will 1 hour and 45 minutes be enough time to gather bags at Don Muang and check in for the connecting flight?

THANK YOU!!!!

Air Asia never transfers luggage from one flight to another. So any time you have two Air Asia flights, you are responsible for picking up your luggage and checking it in at the ticket counter. Since this is a transfer from a domestic flight to an international flight, that should be enough time - BUT - if you miss that flight for any reason, including that your first Air Asia flight was late, you will have to buy a new (full-price) ticket from Air Asia.

What other options do you have?

Hello,
I could do Thai Air...
I would be arriving into Phuket from the Phi Phi Island Resort at 10:00 at the Ao Po Grand Marina (north end of island).
There is a 12:10, 14:10 and 14:25 flight all of which would allow me to catch their 18:25 flight to HCMC.
I wouldn't mind catching the 14:25 and grabbing lunch at the Indigo Pearl beforehand.
Originally I was going to take the later ferry and just stay at hotel at Dong Muang that night and catch the 7:50 Air Asia flt on Sunday but I am thinking I would like the extra time in HCMC before heading to Dong Hoi and on to farmstay to explore caves on Monday!

Thai Air will check your luggage all the way through to your final destination.

So that 14:10 or 14:25 flight might be ideal for you.

i recently found that thai air was not that much more after you add in all the air asia fees and consider the limited luggage allowance

Kathie, actually Air Asia does have a transfer service. They's offered it for a bout a year, but it's only available on certain routes, and of course it costs extra. It's primarily aimed at the long-haul 'X' customers who were connecting through KL, but they were going to offer it on other routes as well.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't offer the service for this booking.

Very interesting info, Michael. Do they only offer it for AA to AA connections or also for transfers to other airlines? It would be most worthwhile when making an international connection, as without it, you have to go through immigration, pick up your luggage, go through customs, check in at the AIr Asia desk, go through security, then immigration, then go to boarding. On an international connection that can take a significant amount of time!

Thank you all! I am thinking that to avoid unnecessary drama I will stick with Thai Air.
