A present for future traveller to India
One of our best friends (63 years old) is going to India in November on an organized photography trip. We want to buy him a present and were thinking of giving him a gift card to a well known travel store because we don't know what he needs or what he might need.
He is an experienced traveller in Europe and the U.S. (not organized tours) and he was on a similar photography trip in Africa.
Is the gift card a good idea? If he doesn't need a bag or any accessories, he can buy some clothes for the trip. What's the weather like in India (I'm not sure what part of India he's going to be but I don't think he will get that far north.) Any other suggestions?
I've never been to the Far East so I need help.

We're in India right now, having the time of our lives.
For your friend, I would suggest a cool flash drive...or this shirt in grey:

Very lightweight, repels bugs, offers sun protection, has large pockets for photographers, can be worn over a tee, and is nice enough to wear out to dinner.
I bought it for Mr. Crosscheck the day before we left and he's thrilled with it - has been wearing it constantly. Runs large. Mr C. normally wears a medium, but the small fits perfectly.

CC--Enjoy, enjoy!! Are you already dreaming of your next trip there? (-;
I love how when arriving in India, and from then throughout the trip, (eg as you described arriving in Varanasi) one sees so many amazing, unforgettable things... in less than an hour!!!
