Why Delta doesn't have seats but Orbitz does?

I was looking at the flights for May 2011 and found good schedule on Orbitz, but when I go to Delta there is nothing available! The return flight is 8 months 3 days away - maybe it's too early?

When I search Delta by schedule, it shows the flight that I want. When try to select - get red message: nothing is available.

I'm hesitant to call as I'll be getting an undertrained 800 employee who'd say some B.S. - happened to me before.

Are you just wanting to book directly with Delta instead of Orbitz?

Did you check the number of stops allowed or the partners allowed on Delta's website? I had issues with this on United's website. The default was set for one stop or less (wouldn't work for my flight so no results came back) and the default was set for no partner airlines allowed (again, this wouldn't work for my plan so no results).

I didn't notice these default settings and got no results until I noticed and fixed them. Check if it's something simple like that?

I think it was the date issue - or maybe my home computer? Iowa, no, it's all one-stop. Today on my work computer I can get us seats if I search by schedule.

I will search more to see other airlines' schedules, how the price changes... to pay more LOL

Have you actually tried to click through to the payment page on Orbitz? I find that Orbitz has a bit of a habit of showing some phantom fares that aren't actually bookable. Not usually a huge problem with Delta, but I see this routinely with KLM and Air France flights on Orbitz.

No, I haven't - only looked at the schedules. Now that I found that flight on Delta I made sure the seats are available. Forget Orbitz, I use it for look-up only. Worked this time Gave me the information I would not otherwise be able to find.
