Which route is best, EWR or IAH?
Hi all, I'm trying to decide which route is best on CO/AF. I will be flying out Dec 4 and here are my options and concerns:
1. AUS/IAH/CDG/IST This was initially my first choice but my layover at CDG will only be 1:15 and short layovers make me nervous for both myself and my luggage.
2. AUS/EWR/CDG/IST Using this route my layover will be just over 2 hours. If I were traveling in summer I would choose this route in a heartbeat, but I am concerned about winter weather at EWR. For some reason I'm a lot less worried about Houston having a blizzard. ;-)
Yes I am trying to plan my trip to avoid every little thing that can possibly go wrong. Yes I am anal and I need professional help.
But for now I would like your opinions please.
Thanks.

If your flight over the ocean is an overnight flight, I would be inclined to pick IAH. We have never had much of a delay there, but on our recent flight from EWR to AMS, leaving at about 1830, we were on the taxiway for an hour at least, and the pilot announced that this was now common at EWR for flights at that time. We actually arrived at AMS on time, due to fortunate winds, no doubt.

Hi P_M - well, if you see the other post about visiting Turkey this time of year and are undeterred, I'd go via IAH. Presume you will be flying AF CDG-IST, and they have three nonstop CDG-IST flights departing at 1005, 1240, and 1910 so worst case you would have options for later flights.
