what if we do not continue flight?
I am flying Aruba to Boston with a layover in Miami. I want to stay in Florida for a few days and return from Fort Myers. US Air wants to charge about $1000 to change my flights. What if I take my only luggage (carry-on) leave in Miami and do not come back for the final leg of the flight to Boston.
Are there any ramifications in doing this?
Thanks for the help

Of course you'll have to pay for a separate ticket for the last flight.
Generally, airlines don't come after you for the difference, although the T&Cs of your ticket would technically allow them too.
If you make a habit of such behavior, however, the airlines may make note of it, causing trouble in the future.

Other flights on the same reservation, if any, will be cancelled and if you make a practice of it the airline will likely take some action. But once? No, not a problem. Unless there's a return flight and it seems there isn't.

It actually has a name davidjac. It's called 'hidden city ticketing'. There CAN be consequences but not usually unless you make a habit of it. You can read all about it here:
