Urgent Question re: missed flight and bags
My daughter is on a flight now to connect to a flight in Houston - IAH-ATH. However, there is a very real chance of her missing this international flight. I am worried.
Her bags were checked thru from DFW even though the tickets from DFW-IAH were purchased separately and the airlines ar not partners - AA, Air France/KLM.
My question - is it possible that her Air France flight from Houston would be delayed if she doesn't show up BUT her bag does? DO they pull her bag off and just forget it or would it be delayed enough for her maybe to make this flight?
I am a nervous wreck.
Help please

Almost no chance of the flight being delayed for that. It's possible, but by no means definite, that they'd remove her luggage once the check-in or boarding deadline passes.
Good luck. (I'm assuming that your daughter is on the AA flight that was supposed to arrive at 1:10. The sad irony is that the AA flight scheduled to arrive an hour later was on-time, and actually arrived 7 mins early.)

Yes, Don - that's the flight. We tried to move her to that flight early this AM but couldn't. Thank goodness for the very nice AA agent who was able to book her bag thru to Athens even though these tix were not purchased as one flight.
Thanks for your kind words and insight about this - I wasn't sure how it would be handled. I shouldn't be worried. My kids are very well travelled and I should just butt out. But lots of little things led up to my stress. They are handling it way better than me!
Update: DD has landed at IAH and is making her way to her Air France flight.
Thanks again, Don.

janisj - Actually as I wrote on my other thread, this daughter just wanted to get on the plane - bag or no bag. Shopping opportunity, right???
They've learned over the years to pack stuff that looks great, but is replaceable. Luckily, they've never lost any bags but things have been damaged during travel, so they leave the good stuff at home.
But I think you may have been poking fun at my tendency to worry, non?? It's okay. Mea culpa. I am getting better. .

So sorry for your torubles glad it worked out ok
With Delta et al charging families on short flights over $200
just for luggage prefer to carry on less hassle
onebag.com
good info save a tonne of time and hassle and moolah
Spirit.com even charges me for overheads that sucks but
no charge for sliding my bag under the seat in front of me.
So have to be careful with size on those flights.

qwovadis - it was so nice to get a great agent at AA who was friendly, very helpful and did not even charge the $25 for her bag - a surprise. Without this bag being checked thru to ATH she would have missed her AF flight. We sent a nice note praising this employee. He certainly earned it yesterday.
I've never flown Spirit but am surprised they charge for overhead - wow!
The girls just couldn't make carry on work for this trip though they've gotten better over the years.
