Transit time at Narita, Tokyo. Is 1h 5m do-able?

Later this year I will be flying to Osaka via Tokyo. The proposed itinerary allows me a transit time of 1h 5m between the scheduled arrival time of my international flight at 4.50pm and my next flight to Osaka.
I don't know what time to allow, or delays to expect, for baggage delivery on arrival in Tokyo, clearing customs and immigration, getting to the next departure gate, etc. The airline might be prepared to ticket this, but is it realistic or am I likely to face a problem in making the next flight?
Bon.

ANA and JAL each only operate two NRT-ITM flights a day, for passengers connecting from overseas in particular N. America. So, if your flight is a bit late, they have incentives to wait for you, but if your flight is significantly late and they decide not to wait, there's no flight until next afternoon - you will need to do a troublesome NRT-HND transfer otherwise. Personally, I wouldn't take such a risk if there are better itineraries out there, longer transit time or flying directly into KIX.

I ran into the same problem; I too was proposed that itinerary and I thought it too tight. So I decided to book a different Transpacific flight, one that would arrive early in the morning (at tokyo Haneda airport instead of Narita). I booked the onward leg to Osaka leaving 2.5 hours after our scheduled transPacific arrival.

The alternative would be to overnight in Narita or Tokyo and take the shinkansen to Osaka the next morning.

The low-cost carriers Peach and Jetstar Japan have numerous daily flights from NRT to KIX (not ITM) for less than $50 if booked in advance. You could book one of those as a throwaway backup.

Not exactly "numerous". Peach has 3 daily flight NRT-KIX, with 2 of them useful for the OP. Jetstar has 4, with one useful. So, there are indeed possible backups, but not really THAT numerous.
