Too early to book?

Im taking my family to Portland from New Orleans in Mid june , Comeing back will be from Sacramento to New Orleans 10 days later.
After talkin to A.A. (my prefered airline)
I can book now for $319 ea. (5 people)
Im ready to book as this seems like a good price I would value some input from more more experenced flyers.
Thanks

I think that is a good deal, especially considering the fact that you are flying into and out of different ariports, and that you will be traveling during the summer.

Well, they didn't get a good deal. I just went to expedia and they had one stop in Denver both ways for $308.19 pp. Oh well, it's only $50 total. Have fun in my hometown!

The fact that a marginally lower fare showed up more than a month later doesn't diminish the fact that they got a good deal. There may well be other compensating factors involved, too.

Thanks flyboy you are correct,
I got what I wanted
I got a midnite flight out of Sacramento
that saved me one nites motel ($100+).
At one point you have decide ,when I booked expedia was not offering the rate or choices that I got from A.A.
