Switching people in Business Class
Hi
My daughter (17) and I are flying from BA Geneva via Gatwick to Orlando on QF FF points. We can only get business class. My husband is on an economy RTW ticket. Would BA FAs object if he switches with DD, and he sits in Business? He is slightly peeved

I've heard from many others that so long as it's 1x (or maybe 2x) during the flight - shouldn't be a problem.
If you're constantly moving up and back, I'd imagine the FA's might say: "knock it off" or some such thing.
Best, Dave

If you're thinking about switching mid-flight, I wouldn't ask ahead. If the purser says no, then you're toasted.
What you should do is just switch once, at most twice, discretely, without disturbing others or trying to ask for this and that. The FAs and pursers usually won't say anything.
If you just want to have the daughter sit in the back and and husband in the front the whole time, then notify the purser when you get on. There won't be any problem either.

If they plan to "permanently" switch for the entire trip, I agree with AA to talk to the purser. We've done this a couple of time (though not on BA) and it's never been a problem. If they're planning just to switch out a few times on the trip as Dave suggests, then they'll probably have a problem.

The FAs in business know who is supposed to be in each seat. If it's the wrong person (easy if it's a he instead of a she), they'll want to fix the situation, which looks like a poached business class seat. Ask in advance, so you don't surprise anyone.

i've done this several time when my companion takes my place in biz or vice versa (no mid-flight switching, but just trading seats for the whole flight from the start). never told FA, never got asked. Do FAs have first names in their roster or just last names and initials? I've switched with my boyfriend a few times and never got so much a curious look from FA. was just referred to by last name (ms.Lerasp, or my bf was Mr.Lerasp)

My wife and I alternate in taking the upgrades when only one is offered, so occasionally they call her Mr. Brown, and me Mrs. Brown, depending on who got upgraded and who won the fight for the boarding pass. It never occurred to me to ask if we could switch.
