I've always wondered what it was like to come down the luggage chute. I'd like to be as lost as my luggage was last summer and earn the frequent flier miles associated with it! My luggage went to Milan, Genoa, Rome, Naples, Palermo, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Marseilles, Genoa, Milan, Venice, Rome, and finally home to NYC!
Will I need a person tag? What is my allowance for carry on luggage?
So many questions...

hmmm...never thought about the weight allowance. That could be a problem, huh? After all, how many of us actually weigh in at 50-70lbs?
Maybe we could boycott the airlines until they give us ff miles earned by our luggage?
You know that's another thing. When they start packing more people on planes won't they also lower the baggage allowance as well?
Soon we'll be allowed 10 lbs for total check in luggage and 5 lbs for carry on!

Velcro is the answer. Ever seenthose velcro walls at carnivals - a person wears a special suit coated in velcro and jumps onto a wall coated with the corresponding part of the velcro.
So everyone gets issued such a suit at check in, gets velcroed to wall of plane, luggage goes in the middle. No need for seats.

With my luck, I'll get the velcro that's on its last legs and fall off during flight.
Of course, then it'll be easier to do those exercises to prevent DVT. Better yet, no more snotty little kid kicking at your seat and pulling your hair.

I'm having a great laugh with this one, thanks!!
Remember how Hannibal Lecter is wheeled off the plane on a dolly in "Silence of the Lambs"? That was the first visual that popped into my mind...I might try it (w/o DD)only if the savings were substantial. Do you have to be harnessed the entire flight,or just when the seatbelt light
is on?

Unfortunately the Velcro suits brings us back to the germ issue. How many people before me wore that suit since it was last laundered?! Will the airline give me compensation if I find a used condom in the suit pocket?! Can I get pregnant from wearing the suit??! Do they ever clean the Velcro walls??!! I guess I'll just have to pack my own Velcro suits and carry Lysol for the wall. Better yet, I'll buy my own airplane!

I wonder if Fussytraveller travels with her own airplane seats? I mean those are NEVER changed, have holes and probably are filthy! And they cost more than her hotel rooms as well!
Oh...but I'm on the wrong thread aren't I?
oops!

I would certainly hope the velcro suit would be like the stays that ensure a parachute attaches to your person. A whole suit would just be disgusting!
Speaking of which, what would be the safety equipment used for the standing customers?
"For the standing customers, in the case of an actual emergency, please hug your security blankie and huddle into a ball."
Would the standing customers get their own emergency exit? Would they be allowed to go to the seated section to use the bathroom, or must they stay in their curtained off section, assuming they're curtained off?

And this little tid bit of info is interesting :
The Federal Aviation Administration does not mandate that a passenger be in a sitting position for takeoffs and landings; only that the passenger be secured. Seating must comply only with the agency's rules on the width of aisles and the ability to evacuate quickly in an emergency.
The Air Transport Association, the trade association for the airline industry in the United States, does not have any seat-comfort standards. Nor does it issue any recommendations to its members regarding seating configurations.
