My husband, my sister and I will be flying back from LHR. We have a connecting flight in Detroit to Dayton. My husband and I live near Dayton, but my sister lives near Detroit. Does anyone know if she could skip the DTW-DAY leg, since we would go through Customs in DTW and she will not have checked baggage.

We are flying on Delta and saved $350 each by using DAY instead of DTW. We are not getting a clear answer from Delta.

If this is the final leg of the flight then your sister could skip the DTW-DAY leg without any issue.

If she skipped the DAY-DTW leg outbound she'd be considered a no-show and the rest of the itinerary would be canceled.

Don't ever ask the airline about it again! You just do it and if you don't do it repeatedly, you'll be okay.

Yes, you can skip the flight if this is the very last flight leg. Otherwise, you'll be no=show and the remaining trip will be automatically canceled.
Airlines do not like this, so they will always tell you that you cannot do this. In some cases the flights to smaller cities cost more than bigger ones ,so the airline would be making more money if you bought only to DTT

Thanks! The DTW-DAY leg is the last leg, so she will skip it. Flying out, the DAY-DWT leg is not as much as a problem since she will have time to drive down to DAY. It was actually considerly cheaper to fly from DAY than take the direct flight from DTW.
