Ryanair name change

I made reservations for my travel companion and me with Ryanair. My companion uses her middle name instead of her legal first name, and I carelessly used her middle name on the reservation. Both names are on her passport. Do I need to make a change to her legal first name on the reservation or will they overlook the "error" when we check in? I was a little worried when someone described the check-in people as schoolmarms. If it makes any difference, we are flying from Stansted to Salzburg in October.

If I do need to make this change, how much will it cost? I started to change it on their website, but was scared off when I noticed on the first page that they posted the full cost of both tickets. Surely they wouldn't charge that much to change a first name?? Please, someone, tell me that I don't need to make this simple change.

I tried calling the telephone number listed on their website for reservation changes in the UK but got a message saying that number was no longer in service.

Have you checked the price of booking a new ticket?

Obviously this post is a year old now, but what was the outcome of your question? I have managed to do exactly the same thing with someone I am flying with and Ryanair's website says they charge £100 for name changes!!!

Bozwell: Pillow hasn't posted in a year so more than likely s/he won't see your question.

IME - yes you'll have to pay the change fee. But maybe someone else will have more recent info.

I know this is years out of date but I have had a similar problem in 2011 and it was resolved for free, but with effort.
I booked my friend with a one letter difference in her name and realised too late. I read all sorts of web comments that said they would fine you if you arrive with the boarding pass in the wrong name so in a panic I went on line to change it but was charged £100.
I then looked at consumer groups and found that if i had phoned Ryanair diectly they would have corrected it for free. (Apparently they only charge the £100 if it looks like another passenger is being substituted).
Anyway after a phone call asking for a refund I was told to write to head office, and bless them they have refunded my money in entirety.
It would have been nice to have this info on their website, but they came thru in the end.

If you do it quickly and it's a small change then if you phone them then they MAY do the change for free.

If it's changing "alanrow" to "beckt" they will treat it as a change of passenger and charge through the nose accordingly - change fee plus any increase in price.

This stops people bulk buying seats and selling them on for a profiut
