Rome Airport

I will be flying into Rome's FCO airport, and then, after my vacation, out again and back to the U.S. Do I fly in and out of the same terminal? Which terminal? I've tried to get some information on the internet, but am not sure just how old that information is. If you've done this in the last year or so, please let me know what I am to do. I will be met by my ride in the baggage area. I will need to go thru customs. Where can I get a good schematic of the terminal? I would appreciate any comments and observations you might have.

The Rome airport website is www.adr.it (make sure you are looking at FCO, not CIA as both airports are on the same website). You will find all terminal info there with maps. You will be met by your ride past the baggage claim area as they won't be allowed back there. After you pick up your bag, you will exit through some doors. There will be dozens of drivers waiting there with signs. The airport was remodeling when I was last there. I'm not sure it's all completed, but check the maps.

Thank you. I'll print out that terminal layout and make a note of your answer on it. It's never as bad as I anticipate, but I sometimes feel overwhelmed before I go. I hope to take 'carry-on' and have just found out that my driver will meet me in the baggage area. So, I get off the plane and go to the baggage area, which I had hoped to avoid, and move on thru it and out the exit doors where I will find my driver. This is very helpful. Thank you.

You will have to pass baggage claim anyway whether you have checked bags or not. Scroll down until you see the Terminal 3 arrivals pictures. You will come through these glass doors and the driver will be waiting on the other side. Scroll further until you see the pole marked meeting point and the pictures of all the drivers standing there with signs with people's names. You really can't miss the drivers. Just follow the crowd.

The terminals did have a bit of construction going on and I don't know if it's finished. Check in did involve catching a shuttle bus in front of the terminal to the check-in area/passport control area, security screening and another bus to the departure terminal.

Thank you kybourbon. I'm sure this is going to be easy and straight forward, not at all like my nightmares. Thank you for the walk thru. So I will come in Terminal 3? That helps. I know I can always ask for directions at the terminal. I go now to look at the link you gave me. Thanks.
