Question booking a flight CLT-HPN

I'm doing research to book a flight from CLT-HPN in March. Kayak is returning fares of $202.10, but when I go to the NWA website to book, the flights are showing up at a slightly higher rate with a different fare code. I'm booking this for a friend and price is very important. Can I force the NWA website to return the fare code I was presented with on Kayak? Or is this just a discrepancy due to how Kayak obtains prices from the airlines?

Flights are below.

06 Mar 2008 DEP NWA 1573 CLT 04:10
06 MAR 2008 ARR NWA 2945 HPN 10:52

10 MAR 2008 DEP NWA 2947 HPN 12:30
10 MAR 2008 ARR NWA 1574 CLT 06:46p

Thanks!

I just ran it on NWA.com and got $202.10 all in. Clear your cache and try again.

Correction - got $225.10 because NW2947 leaves when it does - cheaper return flights are earlier or later in the day. Not unusual for YM software to price mid-day flights higher.

The outbound is a K fare; the return is in T. If you book different times, you can get both trips booking into K.

Kayak is just a search engine. You cannot force the airline or anybody to honor a fare displayed on kayak or most everybody else.

OK. Thanks. Any idea why Kayak picks up the K fare for the return flight? Could I call NWA and book over the phone and get the K fare? The phone fee would probably be cheaper than the higher fare.

It looks like Priceline will save me. It's showing the lower fare for the flights I want.

Well I spoke too soon. Priceline gave the lower cost ticket as an option but said it wasn't availble when I tried to book it.

I know there are a lot of intricacies when dealing with airline pricing. And I hate to quibble over $75! Guess we will pay the higher fare as schedule is more important than price in this case.

Thanks for your help.

All the search engines show that lower fare, but I'll bet that you won't find it bookable anywhere.

The NW fare is probably with taxes. Fares on Kayak almost never include taxes.

Both $202 and $225 fares were with taxes. The $202 fare either sold out or NW pulled it <b>for that particular flight</b>, but the 3rd party reservation systems were still showing it when the OP was looking at it. That's why Kayak, Orbitz, and everybody else showed it.

But of course, when he tried to book it, it wasn't available.

Very common with searching fares on the internet. Nothing new here.
