Does United allow international open jaw bookings using FF miles? Want to fly LAX-MIA and then BCN-LAX. Thanks for any input.

You need to call United - there is no easy rule on how many miles it would take to do that. And I know calling United is not pleasant - they use non-US call centers for many of their calls. Be prepared to hand up and call back if the person does not quite undetstand your question. (It was United that kept telling me Wyoming was not part of the US)

United does allow open jaw awards; as gail says, you have to call. I'm not sure that will qualify as a legal open jaw, though, as the open jaw segment (MIA-BCN) is longer than one of the flown segments (LAX-MIA).

It isn't a legal open jaw. You'd have to spend 55,000 for a one-way economy class ticket to Europe plus 25,000 miles for a one-way domestic ticket.

They do, but not (I don't believe) for the trip you described.

I just redeemed miles for JFK to MEL, and back from SYD to JFK, so they allowed that open jaw for 80,000 miles, but both of my "jaws" were in the same region.

Agree with the "you need to call" opinions. Would think this wouldn't be true open jaw since you've got a domestic leg and an international one. Sounds like you're taking a cruise from MIA to BCN (or ports nearby), correct?
