Once you book a free ticket on partner airlines do you check....
with each airline that everything is in order? I have booked on British Airways, Iberia, Malev and Royal Jordanian using an AA One World Award. The only reason I ask is because this is the first time I am using my miles to fly gratis on partner airlines. AA has sent me an email with my flights and schedules.

Yes, I try to check that I'm in each airline's computer system regardless of paid or FF ticket. Sometimes you can, sometimes you can't - I just like the reassurance.
Some airline websites are better at retrieving itineraries using record locator #'s - I've had good luck confirming star alliance flights on Lufthansa, Swiss, and UAL websites.

You can use your AA PNR to check your information on BA. I just did it. Now I'm trying to decide whether to pay $30 for a coach seat assignment on a 9-hour flight from London to Nairobi. Opinions?

I wanted to fly from MEL to CAI on Singapore Airlines A380 to see what their biz class was like. My travel agent booked the Singapore Airlines flight all the way through. I specifically asked for no codeshares and was told there was none. I got home and checked the details and sure enough, there was a codeshare from Dubai to Cairo with Egypt Air, and I would be in economy on that leg????? Thank god I checked as I would of been fuming if I had gotten to Dubai and found out that I was now on Egypt Air.
I am definitely a checker!!!

Yes, I always check and also make sure that I have seats where I wouldlike them to be. On a recent trip, I forgot to do that and we had seats in the last row which became a problem for our connection. Flight was late leaving and arriving in connecting airport and we were stuck way in the back and had to run thru the airport to barely make a connection.
