New Year's Eve

Flying on New Year's Eve Delta overseas (coach) to Europe and would like to know if anyone's ever flown on a holiday like Xmas, Thksgv, or NYE? If you have what was plane capacity like? Is it generally low or is it like any other travel day?

Will you be departing on Dec.31 and arriving the next morning?

If so, you've probably chosen the best day of the year to fly! The flight will be at least half-empty.

I fly LGA to ATL each year on Christmas Day and take the early 6:00 am flight. It is always booked to capacity, even the Christmas right after September 11th.

Flew United from Maui to O'Hare on New Year's Eve. It was quite empty and the crew felt sorry for us and themselves so they made it more festive!

Flew from Amsterdam to Chicago on Christmas day a few years ago. Best flight ever. Great food (special holiday meals and snacks), great service, very few passengers, which meant lots of room to sleep, and a wonderful atmosphere.

It used to be planes were empty on major holidays, but I don't think you can count on that anymore. Too many people willing to fly any day to get to their destination. You might get lucky though.

Well, I'm counting on my fellow Southerners who love to party, eat, and drink on the holidays rather than being on a plane.
