Just curious if anyone out there has flown a long flight on New Year´s Eve, and if there is any festive atmosphere.. old lang syne(sp?) sung, or whatever, when it is around midnight?

My mom will be on one, so i was curious as to whether there will be anything at ALL going on out of the ordinary.

I've flown on Dec 31, arriving Jan 1 and on Dec 31, arriving Jan 2 and so losing New Year's Day altogether.

On any serious long flight there is, of course, no "midnight". Indeed, you'll often find yourself getting on the plane when it's already past midnight in your destination country, and in the mind of most of your flight crew and fellow passengers.

More importantly, virtually all flights from the US to the Eurozone are overnight - and no professional airline will interrupt passengers' sleep.

So there's just been a few "happy new year" announcements at the beginning and end of the flight.

I have known Qantas crew all dress up in Father Christmas costumes on Dec 24, though.

cvg delta ticketing land crew was all in costume on october 31st, which i thought was cute, which led me to wonder if they do anything for the other holidays!
