Try not to loose your language with Alitaliia. In my case it took Five days where I have spent lots of roaming via my mobile phone. Frustrated from the fact that customer service never knew where is my language.
Flight was reasonable.
I don't think I will fly Alitaliia in the next future even if it would cost me more

We flew Alitalia NY to Rome to Venice in Nov. I'd read a lot of negative reviews. But we were reasonably comfortable in coach, the food was not bad, & the crew were friendly & professional. We choose based on price & itinerary. if that turns out to be Alitalia again, we won't hesitate to use them.

1965,
I'm hopeful that my experience is the same as yours! I'm planning for carry on luggage to avoid any problems (and have paid attention to the weight & size on their website).
Many thanks for posting, everyone!

progol-We did a 19 day cruise and 2 flight days with a carryon and personal item each. The Alitalia agent did not make us weigh our items. I think it's because they are a backpack, a rolling duffle, and a zippered tote each. She asked "Are those your carryons?" "Yes." "You don't need to weigh them." It's amazing how much I can squash down, roll up, and get into our small bags. And it's amazing how little we actually need. And it makes travel MUCH easier. Hope you have a wonderful trip.
