Hotels around JFK Airport
We need to leave out of JFK in February on an early flight. Are there any hotels close to the airport where we could leave our car and they would provide transportation? I have left out of JFK several times and usually use a shuttle which is about $220 for 2 round trip. I was just wondering if this is a better option. Thanks.

The Courtyard by Marriott allows guests to leave your car (for a fee) while they travel. They also have a free shuttle to the airport. Whether or not it's economical for you depends on how long you'll be traveling. Figure about $20 per day for parking plus the cost for a one night stay in the hotel (probably around $200 to $250/night).
I'm pretty sure their are other notes that provide this service - costs will be similar.

We will be gone 8 days in including the hotel night. We are headed to Barbados. Thanks. I am just wondering if it is worth it or not to just leave car at home and go on the shuttle from home. Probably will not amount to a significant savings.

One factor to consider - if you stay overnight near airport, and there is bad weather, it will be easier for you to get to airport than if you had to get their from home. I had that happen one winter, trying to get from WestchesterCounty to JFK during a snow storm. Traffic was awful, we missed the flight. Limo driver said "sorry." Not as much as were were.

Gosh, if you are coming from Philly for an early flight the answer seems obvious - stay at the airport the night before the flight. At best, it's a 2 hour drive from Philly to JFK and could be longer if there's traffic. Assuming an 8AM or 9AM departure and given that you'll want to arrive at the airport 60 to 90 minutes before your flight that means if you use a shuttle service from Philly you'll be leaving home at "Oh Dark Thirty" and you'll either be staying up all night or getting out of bed in the very "wee hours" of the morning. Seems like a great inconvenience and certainly not the way 'd want to start out a trip if I had other options.
If it were me, I'd go to the evening before the flight and stay at one of the airport hotels then use the hotel's shuttle to get to the airport in the morning. You can either drive yourself and pay the parking fees or use the "shuttle service" you originally planned to use. Either way the added expense of one night at an airport hotel will be worth a few extra hours sleep and no real worries about getting to the airport on time.
