How did I know this would be an rkkwan post?
It's interesting b/c I just got into a conversation w/ a man at O'Hare last night who was reminiscing about the Concorde. I think he told me the groundspeed was something closer to 1,400 mph. I guess he was off a little bit?

BTW, the fastest groundspeed I've seen on Airshow are:
711MPH (618kt) on a CO 772 IAH-LGW last December when we were over Kentucky.
710MPH (617kt) on a CO 764 EWR-AMS last September just east of Nova Scotia.
703MPH (611kt) on a CX 744 HKG-NRT 2 years ago, off the coast of Kyushu, Japan.
Pretty pedestrian...
