Hello my lovelies.

Just thought I'd follow up and give you the final (I hope) chapter in this story. Yesterday I received a letter in the mail from US Airways extending my 2 vouchers until December 31, 2008, return trip, on US Airways or America West. I have no idea what America West is and when I tried to find in on-line, I came up with US Airways.

Anyway, there was still no mention of restrictions but I'm no fool -- when I have the time I'm going to go to the airport with my vouchers and little letter in hand and get everything in writing. We'll probably use them for Florida next Christmas and I'll definitely book 364 days ahead of time!

I'm still quite wary and certainly don't expect things to go as smoothly as I might hope. Still, you never know...they surprised me by extending the voucers.

Congratulations on having written a model letter requesting help. Much better than being nasty.

HDM -- AmericaWest is the Phoenix-based airline that bought USAir as it came out of bankruptcy. It combined the two airlines (ineptly) and closed USAir's east coast headquarters. I think the airline (USAir that is) has gone seriously downhill since the AmericaWest takeover.

I guess they're just using the USAirways website then. When I click on AmericaWest, that's what pops up.

As part of the purchase, AmericaWest abandoned its name and the whole operation is USAirways now.

To the public, the two companies are now one; but in terms of operations, I believe they still are using separate operation licenses and the pilots are still divided with different unions, different pay scales.

Hello,
We were issued US Airways vouchers as "volunteers" and when I attempted to redeem them, I found out that they are only available for seats reserved for frequent flier. So, if the seats are used by FF on any given flight, you will not be able to use these tickets.
I simply watched for available flights and was, in fact, able to use them.
It makes a lot of sense to book your tickets as early as possible in these situations.
Good luck, I'm sure you'll be able to find a ticket! It took us some effort, but, we found seats. As an aside, I have found US Airways pretty helpful over the years.
BTW, our vouchers were for any travel in the US and Canada.

Hi designergigi,
Thanks for your experience. I'm going to book my tickets as soon as I'm allowed. I'm also going to take the letter that says there are no limitations as long as I book early enough.
