Help with Las Vegas to Boston flight

When I booked my flights originally, with a travel agent, I had a direct overnight flight from Las Veags to Boston with Delta Airlines, which landed early on a Sunday morning. I had a number of reasons for booking the direct overnight flight but none of them vital.

Some time back my TA notified me that the direct flight had been cancelled and substituted with a stopover in Atlanta. I wasn't crazy about spending a couple of hours in Atlanta airport at the crack of dawn on a Sunday but after looking into alternatives, we decided to leave it at that.

NOW I am informed that there has been another change and of course the flight leaves earlier and arrives later after an even longer stopover at Atlanta.

I checked on Zuji and guess what? There is a direct flight with Delta similar to the one I booked.

I guess my question is, is this likely to keep changing between now and October? Should I sit it out till closer to my departure date ?

First, yes it is quite possible that your current flight could change - seems in the past few years whenever I book flights that far out, something changes - and sometimes it is a very significant change such as stops, major time change in departure - so there is no guarantee.

For the future, this is where I think you ran into problems. First, check out flights on-line using a flight search site such as itasoftware or kayak. When I used the latter of these I see 2 flights meeting your needs - JetBlue and Delta, each leaving at about 11PM, arrive 6 AM.

Second, terminology. Non-stop means non-stop. Direct means the flight carries the same flight number thruout the flight, but caould stop in one or more places. Usually you do not get off plane, but not always. So if you requested direct, your needs may not have been clear.

Third, airlines. Travel agents are fine - husband uses one for business often. You pay a premium, though and if you are willing to do some research can usually do better on schedule and fare yourself. And, most important, few travel agents book flights on discount carriers such as JetBlue and Southwest.

I would ask your travel agent to get Delta to switch you to their 11 PM nonstop or cancel your ticket and book yourself.

I agree totally. Call your travel agent and have them fixed it. You're paying them for a service.

Well, I will of course be dealing with this with my TA. my question was; is it likely to be changing yet again between now and my departure? I feel like I'm being mucked around with somehow. How can they know at this stage that they need to cancel flights?

Can it change between now and October? Sure. How likely? Not likely. With just about 2-3 months to go, they'll start selling significant number of tickets on this flight. To significantly change the flight or cancel it will cause a lot of issues for the airline.

Get a new TA(if you must). The one you have right now is a total idiot.

Can you fly Delta through Salt Lake City rather than Atlanta?
