Has anyone heard that USAirways will be charging $2 for water?
According to Frommers newsletter, as of August 1 USAirways will begin charging $2 for previously complimentary drinks, including water.

The low costs airlines do it as do charter airlines but AFAIK none of the legacy airlines charge

No, I have not heard about the $2 charge.
They charged $5 for the earphones on the international flight. So I am not surprised to hear about this drink charge.

I was listening to the radio in the car, on a long drive, and heard this on Peter Greenberg's talk show. $2 for water. Not free anymore...

SAS does on intra-Europe flights. Well, you might be able to get tap water (I really don't recall), but soda will cost you. You can read about it here:
