Getting credit for mileage without copy of ticket receipt?

Well, I was dumb--I dumped my ticket receipt for my recent flight from IAD to Vienna--but I do have my boarding pass. Is there any room for maneuver with Austrian Airlines to get the mileage credit?

Which FF program are you trying to deposit your miles into? UA? In some instances, you can request mileage online without the ticket receipt or boarding pass; but unlikely if it's a partner airline's FF program.

Another thing you can do is request a receipt copy. Likely to cost you some money, but it can be done.

Usually a BP is enough, but you will have to mail it in. Most on-line requests do require ticket number (I think?).

Make a copy of the BP before mailing it.

Good luck!

It was on Austrian Airlines; credit would be to United via the Star Alliance.

I've written to Austrian Airlines and will hope for the best. Thanks for the advice.

Underhill - try calling Mileage Plus customer support (1-800-421-4655) to see if you can fax in a copy of your boarding pass. There is a fax number for this: you have to send a copy of the boarding pass, your MP number and I think name on the account (but verify). Not 100% sure you can do this for travel on Austrian, but I was able to do so last summer for a trip on Lufthansa that did not credit automatically. My miles posted within a couple of days. I'm sorry, I can't find the fax number, but a phone agent can advise.

Can you believe this? I sent a message to Austrian Airlines and 2 hours later received a reply, telling me to provide the date and number of my flight and my Mileage Plus number and Austrian would take care of getting the info to United for credit.

What a great airline!
