Thanks for your comment, dutyfree. Never hurts to be reminded that FAs know and do a lot more than they are given credit for by the average traveller.

Friend of mine was called last week - problem with his child.
Went there with his wife and repatriated child.
They got booked on a egg-full aircraft.
Means 4 people were dumped to make place for them + doc.

These things happen. And we're not always told, but it is nice to know that in case of real problems, you'll get priority (in most case, at least I hope so).

But for the 4 guys dumped, maybe someone will write a complain about being denied boarding ....

What in the world is "a egg-full" aircraft? What does repatriated have to do with anything other than maybe a documentation problem? Why would 4 people get involuntarily denied boarding so 3 could have seats? I'm confused.

Why worry about something that you have no control over before anything even has happened?

In fact my daughter an I were bumped from Delta premium economy seats when they had an aircraft change. I applied for a refund before we even took off and I had a credit to my VISA within 48 hours.

There is a recent thread exactly relevant to this question - where someone was bumped from comfort + [or whatever they are calling it] on KLM:

http://www.fodors.com/community/air-...-think-not.cfm

sounds as if it's a good idea to keep all your proof of payment with you for check-in rather than packing it in your luggage.

I once looked in to a Premium Economy fare with British Airways. I was told that for whatever reason if I was moved back to economy, such as a plane change, that would be tough luck.

I am in Australia and rang Fair Trading, a Government organization, if this was correct that no refund would ensue and they said that is correct. I cannot recall the reason why this would be the case. Unbelievable.

Miss Green, I think that that still applies to the economy comfort section, but not Premium economy. At least I hope not, we've just bought prem economy tickets with Virgin to go to Cuba in January. the cost is twice the economy fare so if I end up sitting in coach, they will be hearing from my lawyers.

It was premium economy.... two and a half times the price of Economy. The economy fare from Syd to London return was about $1500 to $1700 and the Premium Economy ticket I enquired about was about a AUD$3500.

oh, nooo

I don't think that the same would apply in the UK - the cases that I have seen involving travel and airlines have always been quite pro consumer. but I mostly hope that I don't have to find out!

Yes Jacketwatch. I could not believe that when British Airways said it so I checked with the Government organisation that is responsible for fair trading. I found it unbelievable that they could do that.

Ring and ask the airline what would happen for peace of mind.

I'm not saying ring to check my story. I am saying for you to ring and check your situation. As you are asking about it you are obviously concerned.

I do not believe for a minute that an airline would not refund the fare difference if you get downgraded involuntarily at the airport. Check again. If this was true, no one would book PE or business or anything but economy.
