I will admit that sometimes when I hear stories of foreign bodies found in food I am dubious of their credibility - I wonder if it is someone looking to make a quick million. BUT - in this case it is difficult to imagine someone smuggling a frog onto a plane - especially through security.

Sadly its true
Qantas has changed its supplier of lettuce as a result.
As far as suing is concerned. Here in New Zealand we don't sue at the drop of a hat and settlements in the very few lawsuits we have here are decided by judges not juries. It is also not possible to sue for personal injury here only mental anguish.
To be honest the most this passenger can look forward to is maybe a free ticket.
As for the passenger, pity it didn't happen in the US

Isn't anyone here old enough to remember the old Beyond The Fringe (I thinkit was that and not the Goon Show) bit about the Frog'n'Peach pub? -- served two dishes, frog with peach and peach stuffed with polliwogs.

soccr - I "think" you're referring to the old skit done by Peter Cook and Dudley Moore called the "Frog and Peach"....
It was a restaurant in the middle of a bog in the heart of the Yorkshire Moors....Frog a la Peche, and Peche a la Frog was all it served!!!!
One of the funniest bits of comedy I've ever heard.....Best wishes, Dave

This isn't really such a difficult story to believe, is it? Tarantulas turn up all the time in banana crates from the tropics.
Worse though, I was at a wedding reception and the bride found a large green grub type worm nearly the size of your thumb, at the end of her fork, as she was eating the (recently uncanned) green beans. Absolutely true - and I should know. I was the groom. I think that dinner set the all-downhill tone from there.

If I'm right, among the venues they performed that bit was SNL (in the early days of the "Not Ready For Primetime Players - Chase, Belushi, Curtin, Radner, etc.).
I recall it as sort of a takeoff on a "food critic interview segmemt" but I've forgotton which played the interviewer and which the interviewee( the owner of the "Frog and Peach", but I do remember the "owner" when queried about his formula for success replying to the effect that he determined that "there was definitely a market for a really good Frog and Peach at an affordable price."
You're right - the bit was and they were hilarious.

rahmanbar - I don't remember them on the early days of SNL, but it certainly sounds the same....and yes it was done in an interviewer/interviewee style...
Tho not completely travel related the other very very funny part of the skit was when the bit went something like this:
Intvwr: You started around the time of WW II didn't you?
Intvwee: Yes, WW II. Ghastly business,,, I was completely against it.
Intvwr: Well, I think we all were.
Intvwee: "Yes, but I wrote a letter".
Very very funny when told in the original "English" version.
Best wishes, Dave
