Frequent Flier Tickets

Can you cancel an award ticket and get the miles re-deposited into your account? If so, how much is the fee? This would be for Delta.

Yes, $100 per ticket (unless you're Platinum Medallion).

The answer is anywhere from $0 to $150 depending on your status and the # days before scheduled departure. Details are on the delta website.

Does Delta allow you to change the Award ticket to a later (but undetermined date) without any fees?

I know American Airlines allows this - good until 1 year from the initial date of issue. So, if Delta has a similar policy, and the OP still wants to go (later), this is an option without incurring any fees.

AA allows you to change FF ticket dates for free, but it must be the same itinerary with the exact same airports. Any other changes incur a $150/ticket change fee.

No, Delta will charge you to change the ticket. I think it's actually cheaper to redeposit and start over!

Delta charges the same fee for changes that they do for redeposit. There is no exclusion for date changes as with some other programs. As noted, the fee is $100, except for Plats, who get 2 free changes and subsequent changes are $50.
