Goofed and got a 12 hour overnight layover in Frankfurt Nov. 28th! Going economy. Can I get into the lounge? Hotels nearby? Where can I get some rest?

Help!! Any suggestions appreciated.

I think that there is a hotel courtesy phone at the airport where you can book an overnight. Somewhere on some forum it was stated that a Holiday Inn express offered a good rate and would pick you up at the airport and bring you back the next day. Maybe someone has more definite knowledge of this.

Where to crash? Gee, I don't know...how about your standard half-mile short of the runway?

There is an Express by Holiday Inn (same as Holiday Inn Express) close to the Airport. We spent the night there earlier this month. Our room (a king and a sleeper sofa) cost around 60 Euros per night. They do have a shuttle but it costs around 5 Euros per person.

If you check your bags through to your final destination, then you can leave the airport and take a train (S Bahn) into Frankfurt. The art museum is quite good. Also Goethe's House is worth a trip.

If you are an elite member of American Airlines or one of the One World airlines (Platinum or Executive Platinum), you can visit the Admirals Club free of charge. They have showers, snacks, television, comfortable chairs, drinks, and internet access. We had a long layover in Frankfurt and were able to rest there until early afternoon, but we were(and still are) AA Platinum and were flying business class.

Some airlines do allow you to purchase a one day pass to the lounges at a cost of around $50 or more.

The Frankfurt airport does have public showers; an attendant keeps them spotless and provides you with clean towels. There are several restaurants, including a McDonalds that provides a go

My computer decided to post before I was finished typing. The McDonalds has a good viewing area to watch planes.

The airport also has a small grocery store and a sex shop.

Just verified that our rate at the Express by Holiday Inn was 60 Euros including breakfast. Since we are Priority Club members (costs nothing to join), we received free drink coupons when we checked in. Breakfast is also included in the rate.

This rate was the internet 14 day advance rate (pre-pay).

You can find an excellent deal on Priceline for a hotel in Frankfurt, just choose the area near or at the airport and you will find a deal.
