Fed-Ex Luggage to Destination

Not sure I am under the right heading but I wasn't sure where to post this.

For our honeymoon, we are considering fed-exing our luggage to our destination so we don't have to worry about it getting lost on our way down.

Has anyone done this before? How is it done? Do we bring our suitcases to the nearest fed-ex office? Does Fed-Ex go to remote islands?

Just wanted to see if anyone has done this and what their experience was like. Thanks.

You can find out if Fedex serves your destination and calculate shipping cost at www.fedex.com - don't forget that air shipment rates are based on the higher of dimensional or actual weight. To calculate dimensional weight, multiply LxWxH and divide by 166.

There's also the question of duty. Can the contents enter that country duty free if you're not accompanying it?

You can also inquire with the following luggage shipping services -
www.virtualbellhop.com
www.usxpluggageexpress.com
www.luggagefree.com

Thanks for your responses!

We are going to Canouan Island.

$$$ is not an issue.

We have done this with fishing poles & ski equipment. It worked out fine. Of course, we first contacted the hotel.
We've never done it with our luggage.

I have used luggage express - web address in a previous post to send bags to Hawaii. It worked out really well. They used Fed ex and it seemed less expensive than using Fed ex directly. They picked the bags up at my office a few days before I left and they were waiting for me at the hotel when I arrived. I would definately use them again.
