On another post someone mentioned the cost of drinking water available after passing through Security.

I just wanted to mention that I have an empty bottle in my carry on bag and fill it with tap water after I've been screened.

Maybe not for everyone but I'm content with "plain" water.

Then you've been lucky. TSA says that you are not suppose to have any container, full or empty, over 3 oz.

but then again, the TSA "flunkies" are not the brightest stars in the sky, so enjoy your good fortune.....

My mom has been going through security with an empty bottle many many times, and she never has a problem.

I have done the empty water bottle thing many times without trouble. It's a very low risk gamble; so what if I lose an empty water bottle. It was very nice on recent flights in Chile and Venezuela not having to be concerned about liquids.

I carry my empty Nalgene through every time and fill it up on the other side - haven't had a problem (yet!).

We use the empty bottle routine also. I can't find the prohibition on the TSA site, but I am open to its revelation.

Have never had a problem with either the empty Nalgene bottle or regular empty water bottle. They just want to make sure that its empty! Alot better than paying the $3 plus on the other side!

Wow! Maybe I should try it too. Probably plastic in not seen on x-ray.

I've never heard of empties being prohibited......I like to bring an empty and use the Crystal Light packets~masks the flavor if you're someplace with icky tap water.
