Expensive Airport Drinking Water
On another post someone mentioned the cost of drinking water available after passing through Security.
I just wanted to mention that I have an empty bottle in my carry on bag and fill it with tap water after I've been screened. Maybe not for everyone but I'm content with "plain" water. |
Then you've been lucky. TSA says that you are not suppose to have any container, full or empty, over 3 oz.
but then again, the TSA "flunkies" are not the brightest stars in the sky, so enjoy your good fortune..... |
My mom has been going through security with an empty bottle many many times, and she never has a problem.
I have done the empty water bottle thing many times without trouble. It's a very low risk gamble; so what if I lose an empty water bottle. It was very nice on recent flights in Chile and Venezuela not having to be concerned about liquids.
I carry my empty Nalgene through every time and fill it up on the other side - haven't had a problem (yet!).
We use the empty bottle routine also. I can't find the prohibition on the TSA site, but I am open to its revelation. ((*))
Have never had a problem with either the empty Nalgene bottle or regular empty water bottle. They just want to make sure that its empty! Alot better than paying the $3 plus on the other side!
Wow! Maybe I should try it too. Probably plastic in not seen on x-ray.
I've never heard of empties being prohibited......I like to bring an empty and use the Crystal Light packets~masks the flavor if you're someplace with icky tap water.
