Deltas unconfirmed standby procedure
I was wondering if anyone has had any luck with Deltas standby procedure. I am not exactly sure how it works but I think that on your day of departure you can obtain an earlier flight if there are available seats and for a charge of 25.00.The flight has to be obtained within a three hour period preceeding a flight.
Also they have three types of coach seating which I dont understand.
coach deeply discounted
coach discounted
coach flexible
Please Help, our trip is in October, Buffalo to Las Vegas.
Thanks

Mary...Hi again! Yes I have done the standby successfully.Yor understanding is correct.Let's say you have tickets confirmed for a 3pm departure. But there is a 12Noon departure as well. You call at 9am and they will confirm you on the 12Noon departure with payment of the $25 standby fee per person. If there are NO coach seats available, then you will stick with the 3pm departure you have.As I remember, you live 90 minutes from the airport. So if you call at 9am,hit the road at 9.05am,put the pedal to the medal, you'll be at the a/p in plenty of time for security and check in.Now, as far as the 3 levels of 'coach seating".These are "Fare Levels",nothing to do with the seating.Everyone in the coach (main) cabin, pays a coach fare of some type. The 3 levels refer to how much discount, how many frequent flyer miles you will get and how much bonus you will receive as well. The higher the fare, the lower the discount and the higher the FF benefits. There are otehr details but I'm guessing this will help you.Best of Luck and I hope this info hels..Viva Las Vegas!

Beachboi,
Thanks for replying as I was a little confused. When I was on the Delta web site looking at the available flights for the day I also found that the more expensive the fare, the bigger the plane was.I guess what your saying is if their is a seat in coach you can take it. I guess it is all a matter of luck. As it stands now we arent arriving in Vegas until 10:00pm. That seems like a waste of a day especially when staying at the Bellagio.

Mary....Correct.When you call Delta, if they have coach seats available, they will confirm you. It's not really "standby" because in true-blue "standby" you arent sure you are getting on the flight until the last second before departure.Best of Luck!!

One more quick question for you. What number did you use when calling Delta? Did you use the one on their web site? We live about 70 minutes away from the airport. It will be close but we can do it, I think.
Thanks
