Delta FF miles needed for trip just doubled!

Wow! I've been watching Delta's flights for a multi city trip in October, and the amount of miles needed for the past month more than doubled today. Holy cow! Luckily, there is still plenty of time, and hopefully they'll go down some, but what a shock!

While Delta's award system is competitive in the industry, its Internet awards pages are untrustworthy (as posters on a site devoted to points travel often complain -- www.flyertalk.com)
Phone an awards agent to get the best choices.

I'd say this is crazy, but we all know how airlines roll. Anyway, now they amount needed is back to where I've been seeing them (the lower amount). I know I had the right dates, etc. the first time because I stared at the screen forever, not believing what I saw, so who knows? It's just the fun of the fare game, I guess....

Why would you be surprised when, after observing the price for a month, someone else bought the seat(s) at that price? That's how the system works. At least Delta adds more award seats randomly as a flight gets closer.

If you want the seats, take them NOW. Awards at that mileage level could be gone in the next minute and never return.

It's not that they double the number the miles. It's that the award seats at that particular levels are gone.

I know you're correct, rkkwa. DH has enough points for our flights, but I'm 8,000 short. Luckily this vaca isn't really high on our priority list, so if I get enough points soon it's good, if not, that's ok also.

Thanks for all the comments, folks.
