How great is Jet Blue?
It is really, really great!
On Monday, I was scheduled to fly from Burlington, Vermont to JFK to make a connection to return home to Las Vegas.
The aircraft into Burlington arrived way late because it had been held on the ground in Florida by security due to Vice President Chaney's aircraft also being there. By the time it got to Burlington and was ready for the turnaround, it was far too late for me to make the connection at JFK (which was also the last flight of the day to Las Vegas).
The Burlington gate agents were super friendly and really worked with me to find the solution to the problem that met my needs, not the needs of the airline.
Once we had decided what to do, they sent me back to the ticket counter since the gate computer would not allow them to reserve the flights we had decided on. When I got to the counter, the station general maneger was there to greet me and to make sure my arrangements were made quickly. He and several other agents at the ticket counter who helped were also super friendly.
My solution involved an extra night's stay in Burlington and, without asking, the airline paid for that. Since the original problem was one beyond their control, they had no obligation to do that.
I really like Jet Blue because of their prices, the comfort of their seats, the free seat-back TV's at each seat, the general friendliness of their staff, and the much greater than average legroom with all their seats. This exceptional handling of what could have been a very irritating problem certainly cements my appreciation for them.
In case anyone thinks otherwise, this is not an advertisement. Other than being their very satisfied customer, I have no connection with them.

Greast story.I have not flown JetBlue. The only complaint I have heard is that you dont get to select your seat assignment until AFTER you have bought the ticket, non refundable of course.Yes, I have heard travellers say that they have made a phone call and been told that indeed there were aisle/window seats.but by the time they pull the trigger, their desired seat was gone.So they got stuck in a middle seat.By all accounts, JetBlue flights are pretty well packed so there was no opportunity to make a switch at the gate.

JetBlue ROCKS, oh so hard.
When I have them as a choice, there's no question, I ALWAYS choose JetBlue. New equipment, friendly service-- it's all good.
I guess I'm lucky to always reserve my tickets online, well in advance and flying out of their West Coast "hub"-- but I never have problems reserving seats with more leg room and/or window seats. You do have to do it after the tickets are purchased, but I've never once not gotten good seats. And don't you usually save $5 a segment by booking online?

Except for their abysmal on time performance, the airline is a very good one. The airline ranks worst in the nation........
Reporting from Montevideo, Uruguay, getting ready for a free Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra concert tonight playing all the traditional local and regional music including Tango with dancers.
Best part? it's 1/2 block walk from the hotel!

I agree. The seat back TV, comfy leather seats, and great crew. They have 34" seat pitch in the back half of the plane which is 3" better than most coach seats in regular economy on UA, AA, or CO.
They've got one of the most convenient gates at LAS, which is important if you have a winning streak at Paris and don't leave there until 1:05 for a 1:55 departure.
They use the toy airport, LGB, which is extremely convenient to me (and to rjw, obviously). I was considering switching loyalty from UA to AA because AA operated out of LGB. But they only flew to DFW from there and now they are gone from LGB all together. IAD is my preferred airport in the WAS area.
On a previous trip, LAS - LGB - IAD, the departure from LAS was a bit late. I deplaned, walked into the shack at LGB where their gates are and at that moment they started boarding the flight to IAD. The door I entered and the door I exited in the shack were literally only 10 feet apart. Twenty minutes after getting out of my seat on the plane from LAS I was seated in the plane to IAD.
The seat back TV and the seat are enough reason to choose jetBlue, though there are other reasons, but on top of all that you usually get lower prices!
I called True Blue the other day about an award ticket. They allow you to change the reservation for a $25 fee. I changed it twice previously and can not use it on the new dates. I was callikng to find out if I could change the ticket so that I could give it to a buddy. The agent said that since I was having trouble using the award that she would make an exception to the rule and allow me to change the name on the ticket and to change the dates/destination and the $25 fee was waived.
jetBlue is selling very good transportation at a very good price. In some respects, the other airlines are selling frequent flier miles. Without those miles a lot more people would be flying jetBlue.
