Delta Mix Up

For several years Delta Airlines has been e-mailing me information for some other person's account. At first I tried to respond but there is no way to do that. I then went into that account and found out where to call this person (in hawaii) but the phone there has been disconnected. I attempted to call Delta but after about 10 minutes on hold, I finally hung up. It just bugs me to get these monthly statements. Has anyone else had this problem? Should I "use" these miles? Just kidding.

I've never had that problem!

There should be a "contact us" email link on DL's website for the frequent flier program. That should fix the problem.

How did you get into the account without the PIN, or are they sloppy enough to include that in the emails?

I too wonder how you were able to get into the account. But .... if you really can, maybe this (from an email that I got from Delta) will help.

Email Subscription
You are currently subscribed to receive email as XXXXXXXXXXXX (The email address) You can modify your options or unsubscribe at any time by signing in with your account number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (Frequent flier number) and PIN at delta.com/emailprograms.

There may be something like this in the emails you are gettng, scroll down toward the bottom

I had maybe 5,000 miles in my Delta account but they expired a few months after 18 months of inactivity and Delta conveniently forgot to email me and let me know they were expiring. Same thing with United. I then emailed both companies and told them to close my frequent flyer accounts since I would no longer be flying them in the future.

At least USAir gave me a "heads up" that the miles were going to expire in two months.

If you were Canadian, I'd recommend that you file a complaint with Canada's Privacy Commissioner - that might get Delta's attention. I'm not sure if there's a similar agency in the US that handles complaints about companies' breaches of privacy laws.

You could always let a journalist (anybody have Chris Elliot's email address)? He'd probably have fun with the story - and might get Delta's attention.

I don't exactly know when I first started getting this info from Delta because the e-mail address is the same as mine, and I was also a FF member at the time. I just didn't notice the "Dear Mrs. X" at the top. So with my e-mail address I replied that I "forgot" my pin number and they promptly sent me a new one and all the information they had on this "Mrs. X" and that is when I tried to call her after not being able to either e-mail or call Delta without waiting for 10 minutes. It must be that Mrs. X no longer uses her e-mail as I've had no other messages for her. I will try to contact Delta yet again but I've grown rather fond of watching Mrs. X's account slowly grow about 10 miles per month.
