Clearing customs

if I return to the U.S. From Asia, and arrive in Guam and the on to Honolulu do we clear customs in Guam or Honolulu?

Upon arrival in Guam you'll clear immigration and then do an agricultural customs "pre-clearance" for plants, fruits & animals. When you arrive in HNL you'll be able to bypass immigration but will have to clear US Customs (for the second time).

Thanks, when in Guam do we need to retrieve our luggage and go thru that or not?

Do we retrieve our luggage in Honolulu , go thru customs, and then our bags are sent on to our connecting flight to the mainland?

Yes, you'll have to retrieve your luggage in Guam - so it can go through the "Agricultural Inspection". And, yes, you'll retrieve your luggage again in HNL so you can go through Customs after which you recheck the bags to your connecting flight (for those who have one).
