Booking seats on KLM?

I asked about this a few months ago but details have changed a bit. I now have "silver status" with Flying Blue through Air France (after recent business class trip to Seoul).

Air France allowed me to book a bulkhead for an upcoming trip to Paris. Great!

My questiion is: I am flying coach JFK_AMS_CPT in September. KLM, via the USA Northwest site, does not assign seats until 90 days out. With my new Silver Status, can I get around this? I am anxious about the seating due to length of the 2 back-to-back flights. Does anyone have a phone number for KLM in the US (not Northwest)?

I believe you cannot book seats more than 90 days in advance. Also I think there isn't a KLM phone number in the USA-- from my experience, you must use NWA. Try calling the NWA elite phone number and explain the situtation.

Try the Flying Blue elite access phone number on the back of your FB silver card. They can probably help if anyone can.

Goodness why did I not think of that?? Many thanks!

I was wondering if this was a KLM policy or a Northwest policy; what is the reason for it?

It's a NWA policy and I find it quite annoying! Let us know what happens-- we will finally be elites at the end of this year.

After many phone calls, I learned that there is no way I can book KLM seats in advance of the 90-day requirement. So flights JFK-AMS-CPT and return mean four phone calls to NWA to book seats for each leg...90 days in advance of each flight. Even with "silver" status on Flying Blue.

Sorry about that... You should be able to do it online at nwa.com ("manage my reservations&quot and avoid the phone calls.

The good news is that the "good seats" are reserved for elites. I can't access them (yet) until a few days before the flights.
