American connection in Chicago to Rome
I am flying American from Austin to Rome via Chicago but only have 1:17 between arrival and departure times. Is this likely to be a problem?
I haven't flown internationally in quite a while and don't know when any delays are likely to occur. The tickets were purchased with my father's frequent flyer miles, so I'd rather not attempt to change the flights if I don't have to.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Jason

You'll be fine, assuming there are no significant delays on your domestic flight. The flights will arrive and depart from Concourse H/K. Even if you get the end of one and have to get to the end of the other one, it shouldn't take more than 1/2 hour.
Just in case you are still not convinced, you are allowed to change the domestic flight without any charges, assuming award seats are available on the new flight. Call AAdvantage and ask. If this was in Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar when the weather could mess up few things I would consider longer connection in Chicago. In summertime I would not worry too much.

Hope you have a longer connection on the return. You will arrive at the International Term5, go through immigration, collect your check-in luggage, go through customs, drop off your check-in luggage and take the train to Term3, and finally go through security. I would allow at least 2 hours, unless you are flying in J or F.

Thanks for the responses.
The return connection gives us 3:33 so we should be OK. This a honeymoon leaving the day after the wedding so leaving Austin as late as possible that day is a good thing.
Thanks again.

BTW we're leaving April 26, so we shouldn't have weather problems, but expedia lists the flight at only 50% on-time.
I feel safe now, I just got a little jittery reading posts on here of missed connections when traveling internationally.
