AAFrequent FLyer

Hi You seem to be knowledgeable on airline info.
I have two paid and two freebie airline tickets to the Bahamas in Oct. on US Air. In mid sept., I have to pay in full my hotel and meals for this resort. You seem to think that US Air will be operating into Oct? I do not have insurance on this trip. I have never purchased insurance before, but will now think seriously about that in the future. I would have been covered if I had purchased way back in Feb when I bought my tickets...who knew. What is your best educated guess on this? I have read the talk on flyer talk, but nothing more than speculation.

I or others here could only speculate. If I really knew what's what, I would be a very rich person.

Anyway, I still think that USAir will be around in October, just don't sue me if I'm wrong.

If you do have to pay for the resort in full, why not get insurance just for that part of the trip. In case I'm wrong, you will at least get most of the hotel money back.

Good luck!

I have to agree with AAFF re the insurance. You should cover yourself with insurance for the two paid tickets and hotel costs. You wouldn't have been able to cover the FF tickets even if not in this situation. All that can be covered is that which has been prepaid.

Check www.insuremytrip.com

enter the information required and you can get a comparison of plans, but you should read the details as to what is covered and what is not, as far as pre-existing medical, terrorism, etc. Also be aware that many of the insurance providers do not cover for bankruptcy, so if USAir goes under the insurance won't pay on those 2 tickets. Unless another carrier can pick up your flight and you can get to where you're going, then you can recoup some or all of what was paid for the resort.

Thanks for the info. I called the resort and bought the insurance that they offered (by an independent agency). The gentleman on the phone assured me I would be covered by the insurance for everything except pre existing medical. I doubt what he said concerning the airline, but I want to be covered on the resort part.
Thanks and let's hope for the best. The only way for us to be able to have so many different flights is to have competition in the markets. Let's hope Usair does not go down.

girlonthego-you'll be fine on US Air in October-I won't place any bets, however, on US Air operating as the same company in the year 2005.
