AA - With Platinum Status, how can I get my freinds upgraded?

Some freinds will be travelling on AA next month to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. I have upgrades with AA that I would like to give to them. I will not be travelling with them, and I would like the upgrades to be a surprise. How can I pull this off? Thanks.

If you mean 500-mi "sticker" upgrades, the answer is no.

If you want to use your miles to upgrade your friends, no problem. You will need to know their flight particulars obviously, and will have to make arrangements by phone with AA. Whether they can remain in the dark up to the moment of check-in, I don't know.

I'm not exactly sure what "sticker" upgrades are. I have 500 mile electronic upgrades. What's the differences?

They used to be physical stickers. Same thing. Not transferable.

Actually they are transferable IF you are flying with your friends.

Mileage upgrades are the only other way of upgrading your friends if you are not flying with them.

How can I get them upgraded with mileage transfers on domestic flights?

As Gardyloo stated earlier. You need to know the particulars and call AA. Upgrade inventory has to be available for the upgrades to go through or they will be put on a waitlist.
