AA $50 Same Day Travel Change applicable to awards?

AA $50 Same Day Travel Change applicable to awards?
I'd like to travel on a later LAX-JFK flight than the one I'm currently on. If no U class opens up, can I call 12 hours prior to the departure of my preferred flight and use the same day travel change option regardless of U availability? Thanks!

OK I broke down and called. Yes, it's applicable to awards but only books into coach (and it's not last seat availability, there has to be E class), so I guess I won't be changing flights unless U opens up. Any other workarounds I missed?

Yes, it's a business award ticket. My question was if award availability never opens up on the later flight that I prefer, can I use the $50 same day travel change option to get on that flight. The answer is I can but only in coach.
