A funny story, at least for me

What a surprise awaited me when we arrived in Papeete. We checked 3 bags, all with TSA locks from O'Hare. In Papeete one of the 3 was missing its lock. Oh great I thought. Something got ripped. When I checked the bag not only were the contents intact bit also I had some "extras." Somehow 3 chargers for Canon, Nokia and Sony products were in that bag! I can only surmise that there was what amounted to a free for all in bag inspection after they were checked in and someone elses equipement got misplaced in our bags. BTW my TSA lock, mangled and useless was also in the bag. Go figure.

But all of your stuff was OK? I bet the owner of the chargers isn't a real happy camper!

Yes, our stuff was all there. I can imagine how the other guy felt. Also there isn't much I can do about it either. One other time we found a ladies Gucci watch on the luggage carousel. I asked an employee there if thre was a lost and found dept. and if it went unclaimed could I get to keep it. Her answer was a hestitnant, almost, stammering "maybe". We decided to keep the watch.

jacketwatch, with your luck you should buy a lotto ticket.

I do feel badly for whoever lost their stuff. I'm sure you would return it to the rightful owner if you had any way of tracking that person. Perhaps it would be wise for all of us to put a sticker with our contact info on our expensive equipment. I realize that not everyone is honest enough to return things, but it's worth a shot anyway.

You might try flying again and see if the Canon, Nokia and Sony products that go with the chargers appear in your bag.

I think I'm starting to really like the idea of using cable ties to attach all my belongings to the inside of my suitcase! They can look it all over, but it's pretty clear where it belongs. Maybe also color-coding stickers. Put colored sticker on the inside of your luggage with the note "All items with this sticker belong in this bag. Thank you." Add a simple identification number to the sticker (in case someone else uses the same color). Or have address labels made with an identifying statement and a pretty image. Hmmmmm, the possibilities.

welcome back from your trip. Will you be doing a trip report? If so, would it be a bother to you to let us folks on the Caribbean board know when you post it so that we can read it?

Thanks!

I once had three rum cakes taken from my bag.

They were replaced by a child's toy.

Not a fair exchange at all...I was not pleased.
