The little child wearing the pink poloshirt is actually a cousin of James (guide at Luangwa river lodge). When we went to the textiles factory James picked up his son and the child with the pink Tshirt, i have pictures of him/her too, i think it was a girl.

Yes, Alejandra! This was James' village. Such lovely kids. I would have liked to have gotten better portraits, but the kids just surround you so I took what photos I could without being obnoxious about it.

Great photos. I think because the striped circle the entire body, including the belly, the zebras in South Luangwa are the nicest I've seen.

Regarding the zebras of South Luangwa, these are Crawshay's Zebras and are endemic to the Luangwa Valley (even the zebras in the Lower Zambezi are different).

What makes these zebras so beautiful is that they do not have any "shadow stripes" or what I would describe as they do not have any bleeding of their stripes into the white portions of their hides. So what you end up with is solid white stripes and solid black stripes, rather than solid black stripes with white stripes with very faint stripes bleeding into the white.

While the Crawshay's Zebras are not as accustomed to safari vehicles as the zebras in the Ngorongoro Crater (where a sleeping zebra may block the road and take a few seconds to move for a waiting vehicle!), they are not as skittish as the zebras in the Lower Zambezi, for example.

Your pictures are fantastic; the black and white ones are especially stunning.
What camera did you use? I wish I could take such great pictures!!
