visa upon arrival in Tanzania

Hello, We are planning to get our visa upon arrival in Tanzania and I am wondering if this is still possible? Can you get a multiple entry tourist visa? What are the costs and what currency is best to use? What photos or documents should we have in hand. Thanks for any help.

Hi gaiwynn. My husband and I are leaving for Tanzania on Tuesday. My safari outfitter, Extraordinary Journeys, recommends getting the visa upon arrival. It costs $100.00 US and should be paid in cash, in US dollars. Make sure the bills are 2009 or later, they may not accept older bills. I plan on giving them either one $100.00 bill or two $50.00 bills.I was not told that we need any extra photos but I will check that out since I may have overlooked that. Thanks for the reminder!

Yes, you will need two passport photos. I overlooked that in all the materials I was given. It's all so overwhelming!

We are in Tanzania now. You do not need photos when getting the visa on arrival. They take your picture for you.
